About
Lexi Caris
I'm a contemporary artist working primarily in acrylics, based in the Gold Coast hinterland of Queensland, Australia.
My practice spans abstract, mixed media, and expressive realism. I'm drawn to exploring colour relationships, textural depth, and the interplay between organic and geometric forms.
Background
Art has been a constant throughout my life. Over the years, I've worked across various mediums—pottery, mosaics, paint pouring, digital art—but acrylics remain my primary focus.
Working from my studio surrounded by natural bushland, I find that the landscape directly influences my work. The shifting light, seasonal colours, and atmospheric conditions of the hinterland inform much of what ends up on canvas.
Each piece is approached as an exploration—of colour, of texture, of mood. Some works emerge quickly and intuitively; others develop slowly through multiple layers and revisions.
Process
I work with professional-grade acrylics on stretched canvas. Most pieces begin with an intuitive underpainting, building up layers of colour and texture until the composition resolves.
My mixed media works incorporate various materials—modelling paste, fabric, found objects—creating tactile surfaces that invite closer inspection.
All works are originals. I don't produce prints or reproductions.
